Gamer Part 1

UPATED 9PM 12/1/12

I’m counted as a gamer, but not as a professional one. Most kids love to play games, right? So do I. But I play notable multi-player games.

Club Penguin

The first game I played was Club Penguin. The story began way back to 2006, that’s almost 6 years ago, when our household got our first Internet Connection. (WooHOO)  When my sister and I surfed the net, she stumbled on to the now very-famous game website Miniclip.com. Then I saw a game at the “Hot Games” section that named “Club Penguin” and I used my cute voice and asked my sister to click it because of the thumbnail of a cute penguin.

We signed up a penguin with the name ‘Tootpic’, a pun of  ‘toothpick’. That was my sister’s idea because I couldn’t thought of a better or unique name. I remember that first day I played club penguin and I just found the Sun Pin coincidentally in the Book Room above the coffee shop.  I was so proud that time too.

Club Penguin also have a feature called “membership” where they need to pay a certain amount of real money to become it. Members can buy clothes, accessories, decorate their igloo and more. Last time I always yearn to become it and always begged my sister to convince mum.

When I think back of the situation now, I always ask myself why I’m so naive. Screw those membership items and features. I have more rare items that members’ clothes cannot beat.

#1 Game view of Club Penguin in the town. The town got a coffee shop, night club for dancing and a gift shop for buying clothes.

My penguin is the one with a blue circle underneath.

And I usually on crowded servers, or sometimes depend on my mood lah.

#2 My penguin’s player card.  I usually put a Malaysia Flag and The Old Penguin Band background, a somewhat rare background in CP. FYI, that was Club Penguin’s 17th background.

I didn’t knew that it was that rare and popular that many penguins yearned for it (laughs). But too bad, the CP team confirmed that this background is unlikely to come back because the penguin band changed members.

I also wear a ice crown, red bandanna and a lollipop. But sometimes I also wear  a pair of Festive Maracas and perform in the lighthouse at the drum.

#3 My penguin small thumbnail. In-game appearance.

#4 Facts about my penguin. She just celebrated her 2020 days’ old birthday. (Y) 🙂

#5 Upcoming event – the Underwater Expedition starting January 26th. WOOHOO!! TAKE A BREATH THEN, WE’RE GOING UNDERWATER!

#6 The conch shell pin, newest collectible hidden pin.

I’m trying my best to be active at this game and to attend every event. VERY. That’s all for CP.

Above texts were all based on my experience and opinions. Thanks.

Reading

20 Dec

When people asks about my hobby, I will not hesitate  and say – reading. Of course almost half of the population in earth sees their first hobby as reading, but my love for reading cannot be described with words.

It’s the holidays now and I seem to find it pretty boring. No outings, no vacations due to the bad weather. Uhh! And what I do is of course – reading.  Ok lah I admit I also love to surf the web a lot (much to my mum’s dismay).

But reading is not limited to time or place.  I can read anywhere, even in the car or public transportation. I don’t have motion sickness (used Google translate wtf), but I do find it very dizzy all the time. When I’m hooked on a book or story, I don’t  even care the time. No one can disturb me when I’m doing something intensively.

Reading is the reason why I love to write  too. It’s not that I love to brag that my writing skills is good, but at least I can write. But sometimes it’s very hard since I’m not that good, and I can’t find words to describe it. And yes, I’m currently writing my first long story in English.

I’ve read a couple of books during the hols, and Twilight Breaking Dawn is one of them. It‘s the last book of the whole series, and yes it’s also when Bella’s pregnant. But I find it quite boring, since the story line is very “calm”. (I heard there’s some action in the adapted movie) In my opinion, the climax is at the end of the story, when the almost all the vampire coven were at the Cullens’ side, facing the Volturi coven. It triggered me when suddenly new characters popped out, which were brought by Alice.

My sister’s been applying for colleges and (I think) she found a book about college essays for admission.  Those were real essays, written by people. I’m somewhat interested in those who got accepted by Harvard, so I read those people’s essays first. There’re about 3 or 4 essays only.(Of course it’s not easy to get accepted by Harvard) I’m particularly interested in one of the essay, which gave me the impression of “Like this also got accepted by Harvard”. Of course I’m just a kid and I cannot judge Harvard’s standard. But I mean it’s just a common essay everyone can write and also his SAT scores is not that brilliant.

I’ve also read duzhe and qingnianwenzhai (青年文摘). It’s magazines about beautiful articles about people, scenery, moral values, literature, perspectives, stories and more. Articles were adapted from newspapers, the web or books. I’ve even begged my sister to find these books and bring back for me to read. Overall, it’s the best magazines (and the cheapest) I’ve ever read. These magazines publish two times per month, and it’s only RM2 per issue.

A book is the most effective weapon against intolerance and ignorance.
